2.What Lumina is, and isn’t
Lumina is an AI companion designed to listen warmly, help you reflect, and suggest small, kind steps. It can:
- Offer a space to put feelings into words, at any hour.
- Guide breathing, grounding and journaling exercises.
- Notice gentle patterns in your check-ins and reflect them back.
Lumina is not a therapist, doctor or crisis counsellor. It cannot diagnose, prescribe, or send help, and it can get things wrong. Think of it as a supportive journal that talks back, alongside, never instead of, real people and professional care.
3.Safeguards built into MindNest
- Crisis detection: every message is checked for signs of risk. When they appear, Lumina responds with extra care, encourages you to reach out, and shows crisis lines for your country.
- Topic guardrails: Lumina stays within wellbeing support and declines requests for medical diagnoses, medication dosing or harmful content.
- No diet culture: food and weight spaces focus on nourishment and how you feel, and weight numbers can be hidden entirely.
- Judgement-free resets: in the sobriety space a reset is treated as information, not failure.
- Private by design: you control your data and can delete it any time. See our Privacy Policy.
4.When to seek professional care
Please talk to a doctor, therapist or counsellor if:
- Low mood, anxiety or sleep problems last more than two weeks or get in the way of daily life.
- You are using alcohol or other substances to cope, or experiencing withdrawal.
- You have thoughts of harming yourself or someone else.
- You are dealing with trauma, an eating disorder, psychosis or another condition that needs specialist care.
5.Report a safety concern
If Lumina said something that felt harmful, unsafe or wrong, please tell us through the support form with the subject “Safety”. We review every safety report and use them to make MindNest better.
